A Special Rowell Lecture and Presentation of the Rowell Award

Join NatureBridge, the Rowell Legacy Committee, and the Commonwealth Club for the 2010 Rowell Lecture Series

Galen and Barbara Rowell

2009 Rowell Award for the Art of Adventure

NatureBridge is proud to present the Galen and Barbara Rowell Lecture Series

Shortly after the tragic death of Galen and Barbara Rowell in 2002, the Rowell Legacy Committee was formed to commemorate their lives, preserve their spirit and inspire in others the love of the human experience in the natural world and the desire to protect wild and special places.  The Committee developed two initiatives to support its mission: the Galen and Barbara Rowell Lecture Series and the Rowell Award for the Art of Adventure. The $15,000 cash award honors an adventurer each year whose artistic passion illuminates the wild places of the world and whose accomplishments significantly benefit both the environment and the peoples who inhabit these lands and regions.

Early in the award’s history, NatureBridge, then Yosemite National Institutes, worked closely with the Rowell Legacy Committee to administer the award. And we couldn’t be happier to be returning to our roots, and once again becoming a sponsor of the award and lecture series.
