Long-term climate research at Yosemite Institute

Students at Yosemite Institute are contributing to a long term database of snow depth measurements in Crane Flat Meadow. As well as learning survey techniques and data analysis, they play a direct role in monitoring climate change in Yosemite.

Guest Blog: Salazar unveils plans to bring more youth outside

Despite record snowfall in the nation’s Capitol, Secretary Ken Salazar of the Department of the Interior braved the elements and this afternoon told the annual Corps Network Forum that his Department is committed to putting our nation’s youth to work on our public lands. And the Secretary is putting real numbers behind his commitment: increasing youth employment and education opportunities in 2010 by 50 percent over 2009 figures and in 2011 by 60 percent.

New Superintendent Announced for Yosemite National Park

Director of the National Park Service, Jon Jarvis, announced Tuesday that Yosemite National Park will be getting a new superintendent. Don Neubacher, currently Superintendent of Point Reyes National Seashore, will be moving to the Yosemite superintendent post in the next few months

nps.gov | Tom Medema Selected as Chief of Education and Interpretation at Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park Superintendent Dave Uberuaga has announced that Tom Medema has been selected as the Chief of Interpretation and Education at the park. Tom has been in the position in an acting capacity for well over a year and will officially begin his duties in January, 2010.
