Sample Day at Coastal Camp

Sample Day Grades 1-9

8 a.m. Early care (optional extra fee)

Parents can drop-off campers at Coastal Camp between 8 and 9 a.m. Campers enjoy arts and crafts activities, indoor games, or outdoor recreation time with counselor staff.

9:15 a.m. Arrivals and morning circle

Campers gather in hiking groups with their field educator and counselor to have a fruit snack, play games, and learn about the day's activities

10 a.m. Outdoor explorations: Hike & Investigate

Campers engage in hand-on adventures with their hiking groups. Campers may find themselves discovering macro invertebrates living in the local pond, holding a sea star in our marine lab touch tanks, hiking up to Hawk Hill with a spotting scope, or creating eco-art along Rodeo Beach.

12 p.m. Picnic lunch

Campers take a break to enjoy their healthy lunches prepared fresh daily by NatureBridge chefs. Organic and locally produced foods are used when available, and back on campus campers will serve their leftovers to the worms in the compost bin.

1 p.m. Continued explorations

Campers enjoy opportunities to explore historic WWII military batteries, visit patients at The Marine Mammal Center, practice field sketching techniques along the Coastal Trail, or dissect an owl pellet in the microscope lab. 

2:30 p.m. All camp recreation time

Free play time for the whole camp including opportunities for beach time, recreation games, arts and crafts projects, and musical singalongs. On Fridays, friends and family are invited at attend the Friday Showcase featuring a slideshow, camper songs, and skits.

3:30 p.m. Departure

Campers gather for pick-up and say their goodbyes for the day. They are eager to return home to share stories of their day’s adventures.

3:30 p.m. Extended care (optional extra fee)

Parents can pick up campers at Coastal Camp between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Campers participate in arts and crafts activities, indoor games, or outdoor recreation time with counselor staff.

 

Sample Day at Kinder Coastal Camp

Kinder Coastal Camp offers morning (9:15-11:45 a.m.), afternoon (1-3:30 p.m.), or full day (9:15 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.) sessions with an optional mid-day lunch. Each session includes a daily snack.

Kinder campers gather with their field educator and counselor to have a snack, play games, and learn about the day's activities.

9:45 a.m. Laugh, Play, Explore, Discover

Campers engage in interdisciplinary hand-on activities incorporating music, stories, puppets, movement, creativity, and outdoor explorations. Campers may find themselves creating eco-art on Rodeo Beach, making animal finger puppets while hearing nature tales from around the world, or investigating pond critters under a microscope.

11:45 a.m. Departure for Morning Session

Morning Session kinder campers gather for pick-up and say their goodbyes for the day. They are eager to return home to share stories of their day’s adventures.

11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. Bobcat Lunch Bunch (optional)

Campers take a break to enjoy their healthy, kid friendly lunches prepared fresh daily by NatureBridge chefs. Organic and locally produced foods are used when available, and back on campus campers can serve their leftovers to the worms in the compost bin.

1 p.m. Arrival for Afternoon Session

Kinder campers are welcomed to the group with songs, stories, and games.

1:45 p.m. Laugh, Play, Explore, Discover

Campers may find themselves on a nature hike tracking animal prints along a trail, practicing bird calls while building their own mini nests, or feeding sea stars an afternoon squid snack in our marine lab touch tank. Afternoon snack provided.

3:30 p.m. Departure for Afternoon Session

Kinder campers gather for pick-up and say their goodbyes for the day. They return home excited for another day packed with new experiences at Coastal Camp.
