Sometimes visitors planning to come to the Headlands Institute in the rainy season are daunted by the possibility of bad weather. But the rain often brings out the best in our students and instructors. This video shows some of the adventures that can be had in even the worst weather.

The Pond Lab activity at Headlands Institute leads students through hands on exploration to answer the question, "How healthy is the pond?" Students learn techniques for biomonitoring, and discover the world of benthic macroinvertebrates. Most importantly, they get their hands dirty and get excited about the world of squirmy little critters to be found in the mud.

Students from Sacramento talk about their connection to the ocean and how we can help to protect the ocean no matter where we live.  

Headlands Institute builds a community of outdoor education for all people. One way we do this is by creating a program that accommodates students with special needs. Dragana recommends our program for other parents and children with special needs after sending Luka, her son, to our program.
