This is a full-time, newly created position with NatureBridge. Founded in 1971 as Yosemite Institute and based in San Francisco, NatureBridge is a leader in residential field science and environmental education for America’s youth. Our mission is to inspire a personal connection to the natural world and responsible actions to sustain it.
A signature partner of the National Park Service, NatureBridge currently operates campuses in Yosemite National Park, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Olympic National Park, and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Each year, we engage more than 30,000 people from ethnically and economically diverse backgrounds in environmental education, youth leadership, and teacher training programs. Over the past 40 years, we have introduced approximately one million students to the wonder of our national parks and inspired them to engage in conservation and service.

Summary
The Junior Developer will be responsible for maintaining our current website, naturebridge.org, which was written in Drupal, building out a new website to also be written in Drupal, while maintaining our current systems. This new position reports to the Director of Information Technology and is located in San Francisco, CA.Duties & Responsibilities
Essential duties & responsibilities
Development - Primary Role

Experience developing Drupal sites: building views, custom blocks, and content types, optionally customizing modules

Solid HTML and CSS skills, preferably with some Javascript/JQuery experience

Experience with web administration
-
Experience with iPhone/iPad/Android development a plus

Familiarity with source control systems such as Subversion

Experience working with RDBMS such as MySQL and SQL Server

Experience with testing methodologies such as Test Driven Development (TDD), automation, regression, unit and system testing
Support - As Needed
-
Administer and support the information systems in use at NatureBridge including the telecommunications systems and connections

Ensure that information systems at each NatureBridge site runs at full optimization as well as, monitoring and supporting the work of in-house staff.

Develop basic training tools for end users.

Document processes, tools and procedures.

Identify equipment and software needs of the organization and, make recommendations to the Director of Information Technology.

Be a resource to NatureBridge staff for all things relating to technology and information systems.

Travel as needed to campus locations.

Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
-
Patience and teaching ability to train and calm NatureBridge staff.
-
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in computer science/information systems from four-year college or university; plus two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least six months experience in development including HTML, SQL, PHP and JavaScript, Drupal experience would be a plus

Have a solid understanding of underlying networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, Ethernet, WiFi, VPN, and others.
Nice to have

Training certification (A-Plus or MSCE) or a 4 year technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Comfort with configuring and troubleshooting iPhones, Android, Blackberrys, and other PDAs, specifically with regard to email/address book/calendar integration and desktop syncing. Experience with tablets such as iPads would be a plus.

Experience in computer hardware maintenance including hard drive replacement, power supply replacement, disk imaging, and printer maintenance

Experience in training and assisting end-users with productivity applications such as Microsoft Office

Comfort with cloud-based services such as Google Apps or Salesforce.com

Experience with or knowledge of administration of Microsoft SQL Server

Be proficient with the Google suite of enterprise applications, including Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and others; be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of applications; be proficient with multiple web browser applications, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox.
