NatureBridge was nominated for the award by Nicole Ardoin, Assistant Professor at Stanford University and NatureBridge Education Advisory Council member.

NatureBridge was specifically recognized for serving the interests of diverse groups of students and providing a bridge to new environmental education learning opportunities that enhance scientific skills and change lives.

The North American Association for Environmental Education Award (NAAEE) award recognizes a significant contribution to environmental education such as the following:

  • Visible contributions in environmental education such as research, innovations, curricula, legislation, and publications.
  • Dedicated service in the field of environmental education.
  • Outstanding environmental action, contribution, or stance by a person or organization whose primary function is not environmental.
  • Excellence in reporting environmental issues for the purpose of educating the public, in print or electric media.

"All of us at NatureBridge are thrilled to have received this award from the NAAEE,” said Melissa Meiris, education director at NatureBridge’s Golden Gate campus. “The award is really a testament to the outstanding work of our field educators and their commitment to ensuring that every student who comes to one of our campuses develops a personal and lasting connection to nature."
