Island ecology & conservation focused professional development in the Channel Islands for Southern California teachers.June 2-3, 7:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday
During this overnight two-day session in the Channel Islands, we will concentrate on island ecology and conservation of the Channel Islands, will include hiking and hands-on activities focused on increasing content knowledge. In addition, we will cover the human impact on island ecosystems, with an emphasis on the history of the Channel Islands. Program includes:

Professional development in the Santa Monica Mountains at Circle X Ranch.Saturday, May 12, 2012, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During this afternoon session at Circle X Ranch, we will explore the Santa Monica Mountains by hiking the Grotto trail. Hands-on natural history lessons will focus on the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean climate. In addition, we will cover geology and the formation of these mountains.
