About Us
For almost four decades our residential education programs have provided students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds with the opportunity to actively experience nature’s classroom, often for the first time.
By tapping into our students' sense of wonder through adventure and exploration of this World Heritage Site, we:
- build scientific understanding and effective connections
- forge cooperation, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- teach the skills needed for informed decision-making, active citizenship, and stewardship.
We are changing lives
restore active, experiential learning to K-12 academics.- develop lifelong learning skills by inspiring wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
- provide an understanding of and appreciation for the natural world through science, the arts, physical activity, and cooperative learning.
- use appropriate challenges to build self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
- improve interpersonal communications skills and behaviors.
- enhance comprehension of environmental issues.
- empower participants to engage in environmental stewardship.
Fostering diversity and providing access to all
Yosemite Institute is dedicated to serving culturally and economically diverse youth. We strive to make our programs culturally relevant and available to participants regardless of economic status.
Approximately 30% of the school groups attending our Field Science Education programs benefit from our scholarship programs. The majority of the schools receiving scholarship assistance are from underserved communities throughout California.
Our Programs
In partnership with the National Park Service, we offer several different educational programs for individuals and school and community groups.
