We are committed to helping teachers ensure that participants' environmental education is not limited to the space of a Yosemite National Park visit. This means actively preparing students prior to our program and actively maintaining their engagement subsequently. To this end, we are happy to provide some pre- and post-trip curriculum suggestions for teachers to bring our inquiry-based, environmental education into the classroom.

Pre-Trip classroom curriculum ideas »

Here are a few ideas of what you can do in the classroom to prepare students for their trip to Yosemite Institute. The activities are designed to help students become familiar with the concepts that will be taught while they attend our program. These activities range from familiarizing students with packing the appropriate gear to being familiar with some of the special vocabulary they may hear. Prior to your trip it may be helpful to visit our books and learning page.

Post-Trip classroom curriculum ideas »

Our post-trip activities are designed to extend the information and experience that the students gained while visiting Yosemite Institute. We offer a list of activities to choose from, such as mapping the trails they hiked or learning to design a park, each of which incorporates the concepts learned while participating in our program.
