Our Staff

Course coordinator

My name is Dr Adam Burns and I am the coordinator of the Field Research course. I got my PhD in England in 2001, studying freshwater macroinvertebrates in mountain streams. I then went to Zambia, in southern Africa, where I managed a large-scale biodiversity survey in Kafue National Park. I came to work for Yosemite Institute in 2004 as a Field Educator and I am now a Mentor Teacher, responsible for overseeing Yosemite Institute’s science programs. If you have questions about the Field Research course, please give me a call at 209 379 9511, Extension 33, send me an email at aburns@naturebridge.org or fill in an online inquiry form. I look forward to hearing from you.

Field Educators

Your expedition will be led by two Yosemite Institute Field Educators. Equipped with a wealth of experience, education, and training, they create and facilitate the life changing adventures that our students have in Yosemite National Park.

Our field educators have a Bachelors Degree or higher, teaching experience in outdoor and/or environmental education programs, and a contagious enthusiasm for exploring the natural world. Many have traveled or lived abroad, sometimes volunteering for organizations or studying foreign languages. Some have worked as national park rangers or as certified classroom teachers.
